Is Delta-8 legal? The simple answer is NO!

What is Delta-8?

Delta-8 THC (or Delta-8-tetrahydrocannabinol) is a cannabinoid found in relatively small amounts in hemp and cannabis (marijuana) plants. This is becoming incredibly common, and so to are the claims that it is legal for sale in the EU and UK.

So what is the Difference Between It and Regular Marijuana (Delta-9-THC)?

Why is Delta-8 growing incredibly common? For starters, its molecular structure resembles that of its well-known sibling, Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (Delta-9-THC), marijuana's main psychoactive compound. That's why you get "high." THC occurs in different forms: Delta-8 and Delta-9. When people talk about THC, though, they're usually referring to the Delta-9 compound found in high concentrations in marijuana. Both produce a euphoric, fuzzy sensation, but Delta-8 seems to be less intense.

Why is it illegal in the UK?

Genuine delta-8 products cause a psychoactive "high", the research that has been published can be found here. Because it is a psychoactive substance it would be classified under the Psychoactive Substances Act 2016

Side note, you could be throwing your money away!

It's true that finding genuine Delta-8 products in the EU or UK is extremely difficult. The online stores that claim to sell Delta-8 products do not offer any laboratory reports and most users experiences are that the products are not genuine. In these cases it is likely that what really is being sold would be something that contains no Delta-8 but most likely only CBD.
